hello lovely

Debbie here! I’m a Chicago native with a passion for preventative health and mindful living.

A healthy lifestyle was ingrained early in my life: My father was a doctor and my mother thought white bread and soda, or pop as we call it in the midwest, had no place in the home. My interest in health and wellness was sparked when I realized the solution to illness isn’t always medicine– it’s prevention.

In college I studied human development and the biological and social changes we experience throughout life. It was only after college, when I was asked to teach a class called “Kosher Sex” to a group of freshman in high school, that I started to think about how I could help make a difference in peoples’ lives. The class wasn’t intended to scare teens from having sex, rather it highlighted the joy of intimacy in a healthy partnership. When an individual takes responsibility for their own sexual health there’s nothing to fear. The same is true for our overall health. That class led me to pursue a master’s degree from Columbia University in public health education.

Through the years I worked for a variety of non-profit organizations, hospitals, and universities, writing grants and creating and executing programs in violence prevention, puberty and sexuality education, HIV/AIDs, prenatal health and asthma education. I was given the gift of meeting and working with people of all different circumstances, cultures and backgrounds.

It wasn’t until 2010 that my yoga journey began. Two yoga teacher certifications later I’ve come full circle. I’ve used the teachings and practice of yoga to help me and others let go of their unhealthy attachments and build strength and flexibility – both physically and mentally.

I live to connect and inspire. I do that daily by leading others in yoga and meditation, conducting workshops on a variety of preventative health topics, and writing for different outlets. My three greatest teachers are Ella, Serena, and Ezra – my children – without whom, I wouldn’t feel complete.

If you have questions about how I can help you, your school, or your business, please contact me.

With Gratitude,
